40th Anniversary Markers for the Future

Music in Great Irish Houses has the unique distinction of celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2010. In addition to presenting a high quality, dynamic programme commensurate with this significant landmark, the Festival will further mark the occasion by delivering a series of initiatives that will have a wider and lasting impact on Ireland’s musical life.

NUTURING FUTURE PERFORMANCE
“Support Act”, a tutoring and mentoring programme with violinist Laura Samuel of the Belcea Quartet, funded by the Arts Council. Laura will share her on and offstage experiences and advise selected young Irish string quartets in an exciting process which will ultimately see them perform in a public Festival concert on June 19th.

TRAVELS ABROAD
In October the Festival travels further afield to Paris where over three days distinguished Irish and French musicians will collaborate in a series of concerts at the Centre Culturel Irlandais and The Irish Embassy – a “Great Irish House” on Avenue Foch, Paris, sponsored by Culture Ireland.

NEW WINTER SEASON PARTNERSHIP
The Festival is proud to announce a new partnership with the RDS, a Society which has been an active promoter of chamber music since 1886. The first RDS/KBC MIGIH Chamber Music Weekend will take place in the magnificently refurbished RDS Concert Hall. Mark your diary on November 13 and 14 when we guarantee a roster of some of the world’s most exciting performers.
