The Festival welcomes the return of French pianist Philippe Cassard who, since winning the inaugural Dublin International Piano Competition in 1988, holds a special place in the hearts of Irish audiences. From Paris he brings with him one of the most exciting and sought-after quartets on the international music scene, the Quatuor Ébène, for its Irish début. In addition to frequent appearances at the world’s finest concert halls, including Brussels’ Palais des Beaux-Arts, the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris and Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw, the Quartet also enjoys collaborating with such distinguished chamber music partners as Renaud Capuçon, Frank Braley, Nicholas Angelich and Elizabeth Leonskaja. During the 2010/2011 season, the Quartet will be resident at London’s Wigmore Hall.
This concert will be recorded by RTÉ lyric fm for future broadcast.
