Following its critical acclaim at the 2008 event, the Belcea Quartet returns to Castletown House, the spiritual home of the Festival for the famous final night! Having gained an enviable reputation as one of the leading quartets of the new generation, the Quartet continues to take the British and international chamber music circuit by storm, consistently receiving acclaim for its performances. In addition to Schubert’s Death and the Maiden, the Quartet performs the composer’s much loved Quintet. For this, the Belceas are joined by the iconic cellist Valentin Erben whom for almost forty years played with the celebrated Alban Berg Quartet and is one of the greatest chamber music players of our time.
