The Quatuor Ebène, one of the most creative ensembles on the international music scene, opens the 40th Festival in its founding home, Castletown House. Since its Irish début at the 2009 Festival, this charismatic group of French musicians has performed in some of the world’s most prestigious concert halls, including New York’s Carnegie Hall, the Concertgebouw, Amsterdam and Vienna’s Musikverein, and has appeared alongside the Emerson, Hagen and Artemis Quartets in the Wigmore Hall’s Haydn Cycle.
In October 2009 the Quartet was awarded Gramophone Magazine’s coveted “Recording of the Year” for its recording of string quartets by Ravel, Fauré and Debussy, the latter of which Festival audiences can look forward to hearing on the Festival’s “Opening Night”.
Supper is available before the concerts at CHC at the West Wing, Castletown House, on Saturday June 12th and Saturday June 19th 2010.
Two courses €25/Three courses €30 p.p. Strictly by reservation.
