The Festival is delighted to welcome back the dynamic Pavel Haas Quartet to our shores. Since the Quartet’s Irish début at the Festival in 2007, it has performed in the world’s most prestigious concert halls and recorded a further two awardwinning CDs, receiving great acclaim from audiences and critics alike. Recent highlights for the Quartet have included performances at Carnegie Hall, the Lucerne Festival, the Vienna Konzerthaus, the Barcelona Palau de la Musica, the BBC Proms, the Mariinsky Concert Hall in St Petersburg and the Louvre, Paris. The Quartet takes its name from the Czech composer Pavel Haas (1899-1944) who was imprisoned at Terezín in 1941 and tragically died at Auschwitz three years later.
