Gallery Gathering
at the National Gallery of Ireland
JUNE 12TH TO 15TH, 2008
PRESENTED IN ASSOCIATION WITH ARTISTIC PARTNER THE NATIONAL GALLERY OF IRELAND
|
 |
Last year saw the introduction of the “GALLERY GATHERING” series of concerts
and we are delighted that they have now become an integral part of the IIB Bank Music in Great Irish Houses Festival. This year there are four concerts showcasing international and Irish talent, presented in conjunction with our artistic partners, The National Gallery of Ireland and The Arts Council. As part of our expanding outreach and education programme, Gallery Gathering aims to involve young Dublin people in the Festival and its presentation of high-calibre music and musicians.
This year’s Gallery Gathering will once again highlight the extraordinary talents of Finnish violinist Pekka Kuusisto in partnership with Irish and international musicians. Pekka is one of the most versatile and distinctive musicians working today. Always demonstrating his extraordinary individuality and imagination, he is unusually free and fluid in his approach and has been acclaimed for the spontaneity and
freshness in his playing. Setting him apart from most other violinists of his generation is his desire and ability to improvise and his love of playing many different styles of music, channeling the same intensity into each genre.
